BlackBerry Torch 9800 vs. BlackBerry Bold 9700

The BlackBerry Torch 9800 has been pretty popular lately and the BlackBerry Bold 9700 has represented BlackBerry ever since it was announced. Let’s compare the two phone.

BlackBerry Torch 9800:

  • 3.2″ 16M Colors Touch Screen
  • Full Qwerty Keyboard
  • Optical Trackpad
  • 4GB Internal Memory
  • 512MB RAM
  • 512MB ROM
  • mircoSD Up to 32GB (4GB Included)
  • 5MP Camera with LED Flash
  • Video Camera with 24fps
  • BlackBerry OS 6.0
  • 624MHz Processor
  • 432h Stand-By
  • 5h 40m Talk-Time

The Torch has some great specifications and has a touch screen also. The touch screen is something that you usually don’t get with a BlackBerry.

BlackBerry Bold 9700:

  • 2.44″ 65K Colors Screen
  • Full Qwerty Keyboard
  • Touch-Sensitive Trackpad
  • 256MB Internal Storage
  • 256MB RAM
  • microSD Up to 16GB (2GB Included)
  • 3.2 Megapixel Camera with LED Flash
  • Video Camera
  • BlackBerry OS 5.0
  • 624MHz Processor
  • 408h Stand-By
  • 6h Talk-Time

This phone has pretty much everything you would need plus a lot more. It’s a great phone for people who always need to be checking their email and surfing the web.

My Opinion:

I think that the BlackBerry Torch is great for people who like touch screen phones and use the camera on their phone a lot. If you don’t like the touch screen and don’t really care much for the camera though, I’d go with the BlackBerry Bold 9700.

BlackBerry Bold 9700 vs. BlackBerry Bold 9780

Lots of poeple have been talking about the new BlackBerry Bold 9780 that is going to come out in America anytime soon. Well, I decided to compare it to the phone that it is replacing, the BlackBerry Bold 9700.

BlackBerry Bold 9700:

The BlackBerry Bold 9700 has been very popular and is known as a great phone. Below are the specifications for this phone.

  • 2.44″ 65K Colors Screen
  • Full Qwerty Keyboard
  • Touch-Sensitive Trackpad
  • 256MB Internal Storage
  • 256MB RAM
  • microSD Up to 16GB (2GB Included)
  • 3.2 Megapixel Camera with LED Flash
  • Video Camera
  • BlackBerry OS 5.0
  • 624MHz Processor
  • 408h Stand-By
  • 6h Talk-Time

This phone has pretty much everything you would need plus a lot more. It’s a great phone for people who always need to be checking their email and surfing the web.

BlackBerry Bold 9780:

The BlackBerry Bold 9780 has everyone buzzing about it. It has already been released in Canada and is supposed to be sold by T-Mobile starting November 17th, 2010. Let’s see if there’s a huge difference between the BlackBerry Bold 9700 and the BlackBerry Bold 9780.

  • 2.44″ 65K Colors Screen
  • Full Qwerty Keyboard
  • Touch-Sensitive Trackpad
  • 256MB Internal Storage \
  • 512MB RAM
  • microSD Up to 32GB (2GB Included)
  • 5 Megapixel Camera with LED Flash
  • Video Camera
  • BlackBerry OS 6.0
  • 624MHz Processor
  • 528h Stand-By
  • 6h Talk-Time

The only difference I see between these two phones is the Software, Camera, and RAM. The Camera is not enhanced greatly and the software is not much different either. The RAM has doubled, which is a difference. The processor hasn’t even changed, so that means that the phone’s speed is almost going to be the same as it was before.

BlackBerry Bold 9700 or BlackBerry Bold 9780?

If you are someone who doesn’t use the camera or software on the phone that much, go with the BlackBerry Bold 9700. If you bought the BlackBerry Bold 9780, you probably wouldn’t see much of a difference. If you are someone who uses the camera and the software of their phone a lot, I would say go for the BlackBerry Bold 9780.

Rogers and Telus Selling BlackBerry Bold 9780

For all of those people that are following the new BlackBerry Bold 9780 being released, it is already being offered by Rogers and Telus. This is probably because RIM is a Candandian company. T-Mobile should be getting the new BlackBerry Bold 9780 on November 17th, 2010.

BlackBerry 9300 Curve Review

You all have heard of the new BlackBerry 9300 Curve that just came out. The old BlackBerry 8520 Curve was very popular, let’s see if this one is going to be like the old BlackBerry 8520 Curve.

I went to the AT&T store the other day and I used the BlackBerry 9300 Curve for about 30 minutes. I used the BlackBerry 8520 Curve the day before at the T-Mobile store so I had a good idea about comparing the two phones. The BlackBerry 8520 Curve was a pretty great phone, except for the camera, the track pad, and a few other things.

The Appearance:

The BlackBerry 9300 Curve was a lot more attractive looking than the older version. It comes with grey outline on the phone or violet outline on a black body. The old version just came in one solid color, and you had two options, black or white.

The Trackpad:

The other big difference that I saw with the two phones was the trackpad. The trackpad on the brand new BlackBerry 9300 Curve is a lot better than the trackpad on the older version. Those are the two main differences I saw with these two phones.

Do I Recommend it?

If you want to buy a BlackBerry Curve, I would recommend getting the new BlackBerry 9300 Curve rather than the BlackBerry 8520 or 8530 Curve. The new version is a lot better looking and the trackpad works a lot better. The only difference in price between the two phones is usually around $30-$50 (when you sign a 2-year contract).

BlackBerry Onyx II 9780 rumor true? NEW BlackBerry Bold coming soon..

A new BlackBerry Bold? Yes, the rumored “BlackBerry Onyx II” is actually the new BlackBerry Bold 9780 that is supposed to come out sometime this month (November 2010)! BlackBerry is really stepping up their game with this one.

Specifications:

The BlackBerry Bold 9780 has some really nice upgrades, including a 5 megapixel camera. Here’s a list of some of the major upgrades.

-5 megapixel camera

-LED flash

-BlackBerry OS 6.0

-624 MHz Processor

The BlackBerry Bold, in my opinion, is long overdue for an upgrade. The Nokia e72, iPhone 4, and HTC’s new smartphones are already way ahead of BlackBerry at the moment specification wise.

Do I recommend it?

Yes, I do recommend it! If you are one of those people that like the candy-bar styled phones, this is the phone for you. The BlackBerry Bold 9780 has some really nice upgrades to it and also have the reliability of a BlackBerry. If you can wait the extra week or two, I would definitely buy this phone.
