BlackBerry Bold 9900 Vs BlackBerry Bold 9790

Lots of people have been excited about the new BlackBerry Bold 9900 that just came out, but now there’s a new member of the

family. It is the BlackBerry Bold 9790, it’s little brother. Lots of people want to upgrade their BlackBerry and are confused between which Bold to get, I will try my best to make your decision clear.

BlackBerry Bold 9900 Specifications:

• 2.8” TFT Capacitive Touchscreen

• QWERTY Keyboard

• Optical Trackpad

• 8GB Internal Storage

• 768MB RAM

• microSD Slot Expandable to 32GB

• WIFI 802.11 b/g/n

• 5MP Camera with LED Flash

• 720p Video Camera

• BlackBerry OS 7

• 1.2GHz QC 8655 Processor

• MP3/MP4 Player

• 1230mAh Li-Ion Battery (307 h Stand By, 6:30h Talk Time)

These are some of the main features of this phone. It is all a very big improvement from the old BlackBerry Bold 9780 and 9700. It has a decent sized touch screen, improved camera, fast processor, and more storage. It is exactly what the BlackBerry customers have been asking for all this time.

There are a few bad things though…

• No Secondary Camera

• No Auto-Focus on the Camera

• Very Big Phone (115 x 66 x 10.5 mm)

• Expensive Phone

Now, let’s compare it to the Bold 9790.

BlackBerry Bold 9790 Specifications:

• 2.45” TFT Capacitive Touchscreen

• QWERTY Keyboard

•Optical Trackpad

• 8GB Internal Storage

• 768MB RAM

• microSD Slot Expandable to32GB

• WIFI 802.11 a/b/g/n

• 5MP Camera with LED Flash and Auto-Focus

• VGA Video Camera

• BlackBerry OS 7

• Marvel Tavor MG1 1GHz Processor

• MP3/MP4 Player

• Li-Ion JM-1 Battery (432h Stand By, 5:20h Talk Time)

The BlackBerry Bold 9790 is almost the same as the BlackBerry Bold 9900 as everyone can see, by the specifications. The Bold 9790 is a much better size though, (110 x 60 x 11.4 mm). It’s also 23 grams lighter that the 9900. The call, menu, hang up, and back buttons are individual raised buttons on the 9790, which is very nice. This is something that RIM has never done before. This phone also has Auto-Focus, which is almost a necessity for Smartphones now.

The few disadvantages are…

• Not as Great Battery Life as the 9900

• Slower Processor, 200MHz Difference.

• No HD Video. VGA Video Camera.

• No Secondary Camera

My Opinion

I personally think that the BlackBerry 9790 is a better phone to have. The 9900 is a very big phone, and is more like the original BlackBerry Bold 9000. Unless you live having a big phone, I wouldn’t really recommend it. The difference in processor speed isn’t really going to be noticed that much. The battery life in the 9900 is a bit better, but you have to put up with the huge size of the phone. The 9790 has Auto-Focus which is a must-have for Smartphones nowadays. Both phones have no secondary cameras, which is a disappointment. But, I guess we’ll just have to wait for RIM to come out with another BlackBerry for that. So, my advice to you readers out there is that the 9790 is better if you liked the 9700 and 9780. It has a better size and is sturdier. The 9900 is a bit more fragile. If you like having a big phone, go with the 9900. It has a few advantages over the 9790, like HD Video and Battery life. That’s my opinion, and I hope I helped you with your choice.

Everyone has heard of BlackBerry’s two latest phones, the BlackBerry Bold 9780 and the BlackBerry Torch 9800. I was became very interested in both of these phones, so I decided to compare the two BlackBerrys.

  • 5 Megapixel Camera with LED Flash
  • Video Camera
  • BlackBerry OS 6.0
  • 624MHz Processor
  • 528h Stand-By
  • 6h Talk-Time

The BlackBerry Bold 9780 has everything that every BlackBerry user loves plus a great camera. This phone has already been a great success in Canada.

BlackBerry Torch 9800:

  • Video Camera with 24fps
  • BlackBerry OS 6.0
  • 624MHz Processor
  • 432h Stand-By
  • 5h 40m Talk-Time

The BlackBerry Torch 9800 has specifications that are almost the exact same to the BlackBerry Bold 9780. The only main difference is that the BlackBerry Torch 9800 has a touch screen.

My Opinion:

I think that if you like the touch screen phones, go purchase the BlackBerry Torch 9800. If you don’t really want or need the touch screen, I would go with the BlackBerry Bold 9780. The BlackBerry Bold 9780 is predicted to be a lot more successful than the BlackBerry Torch 9800.

BlackBerry Bold 9700 vs. BlackBerry Bold 9780

Lots of poeple have been talking about the new BlackBerry Bold 9780 that is going to come out in America anytime soon. Well, I decided to compare it to the phone that it is replacing, the BlackBerry Bold 9700.

BlackBerry Bold 9700:

The BlackBerry Bold 9700 has been very popular and is known as a great phone. Below are the specifications for this phone.

  • 2.44″ 65K Colors Screen
  • Full Qwerty Keyboard
  • Touch-Sensitive Trackpad
  • 256MB Internal Storage
  • 256MB RAM
  • microSD Up to 16GB (2GB Included)
  • 3.2 Megapixel Camera with LED Flash
  • Video Camera
  • BlackBerry OS 5.0
  • 624MHz Processor
  • 408h Stand-By
  • 6h Talk-Time

This phone has pretty much everything you would need plus a lot more. It’s a great phone for people who always need to be checking their email and surfing the web.

BlackBerry Bold 9780:

The BlackBerry Bold 9780 has everyone buzzing about it. It has already been released in Canada and is supposed to be sold by T-Mobile starting November 17th, 2010. Let’s see if there’s a huge difference between the BlackBerry Bold 9700 and the BlackBerry Bold 9780.

  • 2.44″ 65K Colors Screen
  • Full Qwerty Keyboard
  • Touch-Sensitive Trackpad
  • 256MB Internal Storage \
  • 512MB RAM
  • microSD Up to 32GB (2GB Included)
  • 5 Megapixel Camera with LED Flash
  • Video Camera
  • BlackBerry OS 6.0
  • 624MHz Processor
  • 528h Stand-By
  • 6h Talk-Time

The only difference I see between these two phones is the Software, Camera, and RAM. The Camera is not enhanced greatly and the software is not much different either. The RAM has doubled, which is a difference. The processor hasn’t even changed, so that means that the phone’s speed is almost going to be the same as it was before.

BlackBerry Bold 9700 or BlackBerry Bold 9780?

If you are someone who doesn’t use the camera or software on the phone that much, go with the BlackBerry Bold 9700. If you bought the BlackBerry Bold 9780, you probably wouldn’t see much of a difference. If you are someone who uses the camera and the software of their phone a lot, I would say go for the BlackBerry Bold 9780.

Rogers and Telus Selling BlackBerry Bold 9780

For all of those people that are following the new BlackBerry Bold 9780 being released, it is already being offered by Rogers and Telus. This is probably because RIM is a Candandian company. T-Mobile should be getting the new BlackBerry Bold 9780 on November 17th, 2010.

Yes, I do recommend it! If you are one of those people that like the candy-bar styled phones, this is the phone for you.
