Nokia N8 Review

Nokia has been coming out with some really amazing smartphones lately and so I wanted to check out the new Nokia N8.

Specifications

The Nokia N8 has a 3.5 inch AMOLED touch screen. It comes with 16GB or internal storage, 256MB of RAM and 512MB of ROM. If the 16GB of internal storage isn’t enough for you, you can add a microSD card that holds up to 32GB on memory. The camera on this Nokia is amazing. It is a 12 megapixel, yes a 12 megapixel, with a Carl Zeiss optics and a Xenon flash. The video camera shoots in 720p and the N8 has a secondary camera too for video calling. The software is Symbian 3 OS and the phone has a processor with a 680MHz speed. 12 hours and 30 minutes of talk time is also just another part of this phone that makes it amazing.

My Opinion

This phone really stands out from all those other smartphones. The camera is the main thing that makes this phone stand out from all those HTC, Samsung, and iPhones.

Do I recommend it?

I recommend this phone if you’re looking for a phone with a nice camera and all of the features everyone loves about smartphones. Also, it has the quality and durability of a Nokia.

T-Mobile G2 Coming Soon…

The Google phones have been a really big hit lately but, I think that this new Google G2 phone is going to be a hit.

Specifications

The T-Mobile G2 has a 3.7 inch touch-screen and a full qwerty keyboard. It has 4GB of internal memory and 512MB of ram. If the 4GB of internal memory isn’t enough, you can buy a microSD card that holds up to 32GB. The camera is pretty nice also, it’s a 5 megapixel camera with an LED flash and a 720p video camera. The software on the phone is the Android OS v2.2 and has an 800MHz processor. The battery lasts 430 hours on stand-by and 9 hours and 50 minutes talk time.

My Opinion

My opinion is that this phone is pretty nice, like lots of other smartphones out there, but doesn’t have anything really special in it.

Would I recommend it?

I wouldn’t really recommend it if you’re looking for a phone that stands out from all the others.

HTC Desire HD Coming Soon…

A lot of people have been hearing the buzz about these new HTC phones coming out. They have really been a hit lately, but I think that the best one of them all is this brand new HTC Desire HD that has been announced and is supposed to come out sometime in October 2010.

Specifications

The HTC Desire HD is a candy-bar styled touch screen phone that is 4.3 inches in size. This phone comes with 1.5 gigabytes of memory built in, but you can put up to 32 gigabytes of memory through a microSD card. The camera on this phone is outstanding, an 8 megapixel camera with dual LED flash and auto focus. It has Geo-Tagging and face detection. The video camera shoots in 720 HD. The Desire HD runs on Android OS v2.2 and has an outstanding 1 GHz processor. It has built in radio and A-GPS support.

Cons

The HTC Desire HD really should have a front facing camera, just like the iPhone 4, but the 8 megapixel camera makes up for that. That is pretty much the only con I could think of with this phone.

Do I recommend it?

I would recommend this phone, it is a really nice phone obviously and is made with the quality and durability of HTC. The 8 megapixel dual LED flash camera is a really nice feature and so is the 4.3 inch screen. To me, this is one of the best smartphones that are going to be out there.

iPad clone by Samsung? The Samsung P1000 Galaxy Tab coming soon…

Most of you have heard of the iPad, but now Samsung is trying to make their own iPad but it’s called the Samsung P1000 Galaxy Tab. It is supposed to come out sometime by the end of this month.

Specifications

The Samsung P1000 Galaxy Tab has a 7.0 inch screen and comes with 16 or 32 gigabytes of memory built it, but you can add up to 32 gigabytes of your own memory with a micoSD card, so in total it could have up to 64 gigabytes of memory. The BIG difference between the iPad and the Samsung P1000 Galaxy Tab is that the Samsung P1000 Galaxy Tab has a 3.2 megapixel LED flash camera in the back, a 1.3 megapixel camera in the front, and a video camera. It runs on Adroid OS v2.2 and has a 1GHz processor. It is also GPS supported and has lots of great software.

Do I recommend it?

I really do recommend the Samsung P1000 Galaxy Tab. I don’t know how much it’s going to be, but I bet it’s going to be cheaper than the iPad by a lot. What makes the Galaxy Tab great is the 3.2 megapixel LED flash camera in the back and a 1.3 megapixel front facing camera. In my opinion, if they sell it $100 cheaper than the iPad I would definitely buy it.

Blackberry 9300 Curve vs. Blackberry 8520 Curve

Lots of you guys know about the Blackberry Curve. The 8520 was pretty popular but a new Blackberry 9300 Curve just came out. I’m going to compare the two phones for you, so you can see if it’s worth it to buy the new one or not.

Blackberry 9300 Curve

So let’s start with the new Blackberry 9300 Curve. It looks exactly to same to me, maybe there are just a few minor changes, but you could barely tell the difference. The camera of the 9300 is 2 megapixel and a video camera. It’s actually a pretty bad camera comparing it to it’s competitors. It has stand-by time of up to 456 hours and a talk time of up to 5 hours and 30 minutes. This phone has a built in GPS using Blackberry Maps. This Blackberry comes with Blackberry 6.0 OS though, which I’ve heard good things about. It is pretty much the cheapest quality Blackberry you can buy but if you aren’t going to use all the extra gadgets that a Blackberry 9700 or 9800 has then this is probably the phone for you.

Blackberry 8520 Curve

Now, there is the old Blackberry 8520 Curve. Like I said before, there is almost, if any, change in the appearance of the phone. It has a 2 megapixel camera just like the brand-new 9300 Curve and a video camera. The Blackberry 8520 has a 408 hour stand by time and a 4 hour and 30 minute talk time. This phone comes with Blackberry OS instead of Blackberry 6.0 OS like the brand new Curve.

My Advice

So, buying the brand new Blackberry 9300 isn’t really worth it. If you are not going to use the brand new Blackberry 6.0 OS, then I recommend to buy the Blackberry 8520 Curve.

Coming soon…The Nokia E7

The brand new Nokia E7 is mind blowing. This phone, I got to say, is amazing. This is a combination of the iPhone 4 and the Blackberry Torch but even better.

Specs

This phone has a 4.0 inch touch screen and a full slide out keyboard. The screen is scratch resistant (you don’t have to go through the whole screen protector hassle), it has an 8 megapixel camera! The camera on this phone has a dual LED flash, Geo-tagging, face detection, and has a 720p HD video camera just like the iPhone 4. This camera on this Nokia is better than the Canon camera I own! This phone is at okay speed with it’s 680 MHz processor, not as great as the iPhone 4’s 1 GHz speed, but is still pretty good. The phone also has a built-in GPS system, radio, and lasts up to 480 hours talk time!

Would I buy it?

Yes I would buy it and would recommend you to buy it! This phone has amazing features with the quality and reliability of a Nokia. To me, this phone is better than most smartphones out there.

New 2010 MacBook Air?

There have been lots of rumors lately about a new MacBook Air coming out in 2010. The MacBook Air has been around a long time but has been updated only once in it’s lifetime so far. In my opinion I think that a new MacBook Air update is WAY overdue. The current version has a really slow processor (1.86 GHz and 2.13 GHz) and is overpriced for what it actually does. $1499 for a 13 inch laptop that has the slowest processor in the Apple computer family is pointless in my opinion.

My Opinion:
People have been saying that there is going to be a 11 inch model coming out which, if is true, is a horrible move on Apple’s part. The MacBook Air is already a bottom of the line computer that is priced twice as much as it should but, making the screen even smaller? That’s just making it an overpriced netbook.

Updates Apple needs to make with the MacBook Air:
Apple needs to update the battery life (5 hours compared to the MacBook and MacBook Pro’s 10 hour battery life), the speed, the processor, add more USB ports, and lower the price. The new MacBook Air update is overdue and because of this the MacBook Air is overpriced and not worth what you’re paying for it at all.

My Advice:

If you are wanting to buy a MacBook Air I would definitely recommend waiting until they finally upgrade it so you’re not spending $1499-$1799 for a bottom of the line laptop.

iPhone 4 vs. Blackberry 9800 Torch

I am guessing you have all heard of the new iPhone 4 and the Blackberry 9800. Well the question right now is which phone is best? I have been wanting to upgrade my iPhone 3g myself so I’ve been doing quite a bit of research.

So let’s start out with the iPhone 4. The iPhone 4 has a pretty big screen which I think is really nice for watching videos and for using Facetime (video calling with other iPhone 4 users over WiFi). It also has a really nice 5 megapixel camera! To me this camera is pretty amazing. My friend bought the iPhone 4 the first day it came out and so I got to play with it a little bit. I got to say the camera is spectacular. I thought it was a 8 megapixel camera when I was testing it out. The video camera is also very nice, it shoots 720p HD Video. This is what those professional Nikon and Canon cameras usually come with. Also the look of the brand new iPhone is very nice. The iPhone 4, like all phones, has a few cons though. First off the intena problem. Apple pretty much solved this problem by giving every iPhone 4 owner free bumpers. The iPhone’s shape is also a problem. It’s not like the iPhone 3g and 3gs, the iPhone 4 is just a rectangle and tends to easily fall out of your hands if you’re not too careful with your phone. Now if you want to Unlock & Jailbreak your iPhone to use it with another GSM Carrier (T-Mobile for example) it is really a pain. You have to go through the whole unlock process and then you have to actually cut your sim-card so it will fit into the mini-sim tray! Now, they do sell iPhone 4 sim-cutters, you can buy them on eBay or any other online site, but that’s an extra $20 bucks. If you want to use your iPhone 4 with AT&T then this doesn’t concern you at all. The iPhone with an AT&T two year contract starts at $199. To buy an iPhone 4 without a contract, which people on eBay and Craigslist sell, is about $550 on average.

The Blackberry 9800 Torch seems like a pretty nice phone. It has a nice touch screen (not as big as the iPhone 4’s) but makes up for that with it’s full slide-out keyboard. The 9800 comes with a 5 megapixel camera, like the iPhone 4, but doesn’t take as good of photos like the iPhone 4. It is also slower than the iPhone (iPhone has a 1 GHz processor and the Blackberry has a 624 MHz processor). The Blackberry doesn’t really have anything special that it’s competitor’s have in my opinion. It is also $199 with a AT&T two year contract. Without a two year contract is $499.

So personally, I would have to say that the iPhone 4 is a better phone. The Blackberry 9800 just doesn’t have anything special that it’s competitors doesn’t have. The iPhone 4’s software is also way easier to use than the Blackberry’s. So if you’re looking to buy the Blackberry 9800 or iPhone 4, I’d go with the iPhone 4 because of it’s great camera, easy to use software, HD video camera, and lots more.
